divining our way through: Reflections from Allegra Dolores

If/Then Creative Process Reflections

We got to experience the Belkis Ayon exhibition together, taking her work in, and taking time to dig into the meaning of her work collaboratively

We collaborated those meanings in expression together through divination, in person as a process, online as a process that produced different feelings, thoughts that came together in a meaningful way.

Our creation/divination process was like the work of Belkis’ compilation of smaller manageable prints to produce a larger body of work. It felt like we accomplished that both online and in person.

Our work got smaller as Belkis work got smaller when we switched to remote divination, almost like a tiny death (of normalcy).

The divination process felt like a work in itself, especially when we had to individually create an organization method with bowls, find a yes/no piece and found objects in our homes to create a divination space/images/inspirations.

Virtual space forced us to bring more of our individual selves to the work than in-person as a harmonic duo--we also at different segments of divination created lyrics/words that we could harmonize and put to melody for the score

Looking forward to continuing to contribute to the growing process.

HPP is awesome!
