Future Women

 
Futurewomen is an alternate reality series about the creation of black superheroines! The first episode, Origins, introduces viewers to Honey Pot Performance with footage from the rehearsal and first performance of Ma(s)king Her at REVIVAL, held at Chicago's Pritzker Pavilion in January 2015. Futurewomen chronicles the development of Ma(s)king Her, a dance theater work about empowered journeywomen who must survive oppressive environs. Ma(s)king Her is the newest work by Honey Pot Performance (HPP), a woman-focused collaborative creative community committed to chronicling and interrogating Afro-diasporic feminist and fringe subjectivities amidst the pressures of contemporary global life. Honey Pot Performance presents their tribute to Chicago's rich House Music history - JUKE CRY HAND CLAP. Merging theater, dance, song, poetry and interactive performance, Honey Pot celebrates the DJ's and the dancers that created a social movement through music in Chicago. Performed at High Concept Laboratories at MANA Contemporary Chicago. The show opens Oct. 3rd and runs through Oct. 12th, 2014. Video by On The Real Film.
