Chicago Black Social Culture Map: Between Hip Hop and House - Chicago’s Street & Club Dance from the ’80s On

Between Hip Hop and House: Chicago’s Street & Club Dance from the ’80s On . . .
Dance Cypher and DJ Livestream event in collaboration with BraveSoul Movement
Step into the underground with an intimate verbal story cypher (discussion), followed by a dance cypher, featuring some of Chicago’s movers and multi-hyphenate artists who have shaped the city’s street and club dance scene—where Housing, Flexing, Hip House, and Hip Hop have collided.

Featuring Bruno (Joe Bruno Blaque)Chris Ellis (Infinite Poet), and Fathom DJ (Danyell Abston)—dancers, DJs, emcees, and culture bearers whose names, presence, and influence flowed through the scene well before Instagram and social media. Sounds by Jo de Presser.

Moderated by Daniel “BRAVEMONK” Haywood and Kelsa “K-Soul” Rieger-Haywood, this live and intimate convo/cypher digs into the fluid spaces between styles and scenes, exploring the dynamic differences and soulful synergies between House and Hip Hop. A story cypher will transform into an open dance cypher connecting dancers and movers across generations.
