Chicago Black Social Culture Map: Chicago Memory Keepers: Strategies for shaping community stories

  • Honey Pot Performance 425 S Central Park Ave Chicago United States (map)

Calling all memory keepers—we have a special panel and hands-on workshop for you!

Join archivists, memory workers, and cultural stewards as they dig into the power of preserving community histories through film, media, oral storytelling, and archival practice. Explore with us how personal memories become collective legacies—and why keeping record matters.

Moderated by visual artist and culture keeper Kenn Cook, this panel features sculptor and organizer Sonja Henderson, interdisciplinary artist Marcus Davis, writer and imagist Seed Lynn, and Chicago Film Archives founder Nancy Watrous. This gathering is part conversation, part skillshare, part love letter to the past and those who kept it. This event will be followed by a social hour and DJ set.

Come through, and bring your memories!
